This policy explains what information myfencecalculator.com ("the site", "we", "us") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The site is designed to work without an account, and we collect as little as we can.
Information we collect
Information you give us. If you use the contact form, we collect your name, your email address and the message you write, including any calculator share link you paste in.
Calculator settings. The layouts, measurements and options you enter in the calculator are stored in your own browser and in the page URL. They are not sent to us or saved on our servers, unless you choose to send us a share link.
Usage data. We use Plausible Analytics and Vercel Web Analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate, such as which pages are visited, referring sites, and general device, browser and country information. Neither service uses cookies, and neither is used to identify you personally. Plausible also records a small number of anonymous events, such as when a material list is built, together with the fence type, the number of sides and gates, and the rounded fence length. It never receives the layout itself, your measurements or your prices.
Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may process standard technical information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in order to deliver and secure the site.
How we use it
We use the information above to:
- Operate the calculator and remember your settings on your device
- Reply to messages you send through the contact form
- Fix errors and improve formulas, guides and site performance
- Protect the site against abuse and keep it secure
We do not sell your contact form information, and we do not use it for marketing.
Cookies and local storage
The site does not currently set cookies for analytics or advertising. The calculator uses your browser's localStorage to remember your layout and settings between visits, and encodes them in the URL so you can share or bookmark a layout. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings. Clearing it will reset the calculator.
If we add advertising in the future, third-party cookies may be used as described in the advertising section below.
Third-party services
We use a small number of service providers to run the site:
- Vercel hosts the site and provides cookieless web analytics.
- Plausible Analytics provides cookieless, privacy-focused web analytics. Its servers are in the European Union.
- Resend delivers contact form messages to our inbox. Your name, email address and message pass through Resend to reach us.
These providers process data on our behalf and under their own privacy policies. We keep contact form messages only as long as needed to respond and handle any follow-up, and no longer than 24 months, after which they are deleted.
Advertising
The site may in the future show ads served by Google AdSense and include affiliate links to retailers. If we do:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a Google-certified consent management platform before personalized ads or related cookies are used.
Affiliate links may let the retailer know you arrived from this site so that we can earn a commission on qualifying purchases. The retailer's own privacy policy applies once you leave our site.
This policy will be updated before advertising is turned on.
Your choices
- You can use the calculator without giving us any personal information.
- You can clear localStorage and block cookies in your browser settings.
- You can opt out of personalized ads using the links in the advertising section.
California residents. Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or share personal information today. If we begin showing personalized ads, we will provide a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" option and honor Global Privacy Control signals. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
To make a request, use the contact page. We may need to verify your request before acting on it. Residents of other states with similar privacy laws may make the same requests.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Significant changes, such as turning on advertising, will be reflected here before they take effect.
